Dr. Chung Hwan Kwak
Chairman, United Press International
Dr. Chung Hwan Kwak has been UPI's Chairman and President since 2002. He is also Chairman of UPI's parent company, News World Communications, which also owns The Washington Times and numerous other publications, including The Middle East Times and Tiempos del Mundo, a Spanish-language newspaper published in 16 countries throughout the Americas.


Nicholas Chiaia
President
Nicholas Chiaia was named President of UPI in April, 2008.  Chiaia oversees the Company’s global business operations, including its financial, legal, sales, marketing, network operations, web development and general administration.  Mr. Chiaia has over 20 years experience in business administration, 14 years experience as a civil attorney, and 10 years experience in the news and information media industry.

Prior to his tenure at UPI, Mr. Chiaia served in varying executive capacities for Potomac Television Communications, Inc. and Atlantic Video, Inc.  Mr. Chiaia was a litigator in California, has served as an Adjunct Law Professor, and continues to maintain a private mediation practice. He is an alumnus of San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco School of Law; and is licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., New York, and California.

Michael J. Marshall
Editor-in-Chief
Michael Marshall has served as editor-in-chief of United Press International, the international news agency, since 2003. He has also been a member of UPI’s board of directors since 1999.

He is Vice-president for Editorial Affairs of News World Communications Inc., a media company that owns UPI as well as The Washington Times.

From 1986 until 2003 he was executive editor of the The World & I magazine, a weighty monthly international, intercultural, interdisciplinary magazine with a renaissance flavor aimed at educators and educational institutions as well as lifelong learners.

Prior to coming to America Marshall worked in London, editing The New Tomorrow, a monthly general interest and feature magazine, and The London Rising Tide a biweekly broadsheet of political and cultural commentary.

He holds an M.A in History from Cambridge University, England.


Marc Oram
General Counsel
Marc Oram was named General Counsel in April 2008.  He previously served as UPI’s Assistant General Counsel since 2003.  Oram is responsible for advising the company on legal issues worldwide.  He holds a law degree from the Tulane University School of Law and has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
